Vinyl-to-mp3 converter, but not for your iPod July 23, 2010

When I want to transfer a record or part of one to mp3, I usually bring my turntable and the entire stereo amplifier from the living room into the bedroom and attach it to the computer. I also have to disconnect my speakers which is a drag with the pinch connectors. Now I just leave this little device in the room, and bring the turntable as needed. Line in direct to the box, then out to the record-in on the back of the computer, and record it in GoldWave. Brings turntable to line level.
WHAT IT WON'T DO: Plugging an iPod directly into your computer speakers will drive them and sound good. It'll also wear down your iPod battery in a few minutes. The only reason you'd do this is because Apple is so proprietary that you can't have the same songs YOU OWN on two different computers. SO, I tried running the PylePro between iPod and speakers. Sound quality is horrible, probably because the level is overdriving the speakers. Not optimal, and not recommended. I wish there were a level setting on the PylePro, but it's meant to be super-easy, I guess.

I got this because my turntable did not have its own preamp,bought this from Amazon,it came a day early.it sounds great,i use this with my Logitech X-540 computer speakers and it sounds great,no hum,didnt have to ground it,thanks amazon.

This product performs flawlessly, even using the included adapter no AC hum is heard. My Thorens turntable also needs no grounding, so neither having a ground-wire is irrelevant. It's a major improvement over the preamp in my Sony receiver. Now I have a lot of remastering to do!

Works as advertised - used with Audigy the sound is VERY hot - had to pot it down quite a bit. No hiss with using the grounding wire. Great value.
