A must read for non-technical professionals July 26, 2010 AGC Great book; it does and excellent job at explaining a very complicated industry like Oil & Gas exploration. I work as a financial analyst in a junior E&P and I continuously look at the book for information. A must read for all those new to the industry and everyone interested in O&G.
Excellent Primer of the Industry October 5, 2009 Charles D. Sewell (Houston, TX USA) This book gives a great overview for the activities involved in oil and gas exploration and the process of drilling and producing wells.
Oil & Gas Made Easy July 10, 2009 A J (Orange County, California) Absolutely superior book. Extremely well written with numerous pictures and illustrative diagrams & tables. Provides a thorough background of the upstream petroleum production process.
Great starter book July 6, 2009 A. Puckett This is a great starter book for anyone wanting to learn more about Oil & Gas from what and where it is to how it gets to its final destinations. If you're already in the industry I can guarantee that you'll still learn things as it is very comprehensive to the industry as a whole.
Review by an atmospheric sciences professor July 4, 2009 Gerald R. North 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I am a professor in atmospheric sciences and my specialty is climate science. I do not know the author. I often speak before geologists, petroleum engineers, agricultural specialists, etc. I have of necessity had to learn more about energy and water resources. This means I needed to know more about petroleum. This is one of many books I have read about energy resources. I found this book to be an excellent introduction for the nonspecialist. I know some geology, but this book was one of the clearest and most concise introduction that is especially focused on petroleum recovery. The author's style is good, but the most impressive are the figures. These are of a uniformly high quality in production and they are very clear showing exactly what the author is referring to. I enjoyed this book immensely. G. North, Texas A&M
